Florence E. Schellinger, 78, found peace Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at The Kathy Hospice after fighting an eight-year battle with brain cancer. She was born Aug. 1, 1938, to parents William and Eleanore (Meyer) Wolf.
Florence was united in marriage May 28, 1960, to Thomas Schellinger.
Florence enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and being outdoors.
She also liked fishing, traveling, gambling, making crafts, baking and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her husband, Thomas; four children, Jean Llanas, Michael (Gina), Ted (Jenny) and Beth "Betsy" (Troy) Modschiedler; 10 grandchildren, Devin and Daniella Llanas, Austin, Taylor and Ryan Schellinger, Kyle and Katelyn Schellinger, Michael (Amanda), Mason, and Dustin Modschiedler; one great-grandson, Evan Modschiedler; one sister, Rosie Wolf; two brothers, Werner and Jerry (Donna) Wolf; brothers-in-law, Gerald Lofy and Fritz (Irene) Schellinger; sister-in-law, Arlene Wolf; and is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Florence is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Wally, Gib (Rosie) and Marcy (Rita) Wolf; two sisters, Betty (Herman) Doll and Lucille Lofy; brothers-inlaw, Robert (Bernida) Schellinger and Jerry Wolf; and sister-in-law, Carol Wolf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Friday, May 19, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 Highway 175, Hartford) with the Very Rev. Richard J. Stoffel presiding. A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be held Friday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass. Committal will be at the church cemetery Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Kathy Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Kathy Hospice or St. Lawrence Parish.
