Carole Sepstead, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away in Milwaukee on May 13, 2017. Carole was born in New Berlin in 1937. She was the daughter of Helen and Walter Butzlaff. She grew up in Wausau and later lived in Mt. Pleasant and Grafton.
Carole was married to Thomas Rohloff of Wausau ; he preceded her in death. She later married Sheldon Sepstead. They enjoyed 52 years together.
She was mother to four children, Robert, Cheryl and Thomas Rohloff and Sean Sepstead. She also had 10 grandchildren, two of whom preceded her in death. She had six great-grandchildren. Her brother, Richard Butzlaff lives in Texas. Her sister Ruth Ann Butzlaff preceded her in death.
Over the course of her life, Carole was a dental assistant, bank teller, social worker for Racine County Social Services, child support specialist in Ozaukee County Social Services and for 11 years the general manager of St. Vincent de Paul Country Thrift Shop in Port Washington. In her position as general manager, she was responsible for transforming a small thrift shop into the "Marshall Fields on the lake," a model for other thrift shops nationally. She and her husband Shel played Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Thrift Shop every Christmas, distributing gifts to hundreds of children over the years.
She lived a life of volunteerism. She was Ozaukee County Salvation Army president. She volunteered for the Red Cross, St. Benís Books, the Grafton Library and was an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She also enjoyed her friends, family, being up north, gardening, reading, writing and cooking. She also enjoyed residing in San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday, May 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a service to follow. Lunch will be provided at the church after the service.
