John F. Cassel, 90John F. Cassel of Cedarburg died peacefully on May 17, 2017. John Francis Cassel was born on April 17, 1927, to Anthony and Mildred Cassel of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard, sister Jean Mary and parents, Anthony and Mildred Cassel.

Mr. Cassel was the past president of Cassel Box & Lumber Co., Inc. in Grafton. Cassel Box was founded by his father and located in Milwaukee.

In 1971, he built new manufacturing buildings and moved Cassel Box to its current location in Grafton. He took great pride in his company and his sons who worked alongside him and now continue his legacy.

Mr. Cassel had incredible fortitude and instilled a prodigious work ethic in all of his six children. In his later years, he built a horse farm in Saddlebrook Park in Mequon, where he spent as much time as he could caring for the horses and cutting acres of grass. He loved spending time there
enjoying the wildlife and the simple beauties of nature.

He was preceded in death, by the love of his life, Marjorie, in 2015, his brother Richard, sister Jean and parents Anthony and Mildred Cassel.

Mr. Cassel is lovingly remembered by his sons, Craig (Katie) Cassel, John (Cindy) Cassel and Marc (Leah) Cassel and daughters Melinda (Jim) Francois, Karen Cassel and Christie (Jim) Burke as well as 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be offered to St.
