Laura was born on Oct. 2, 1956, in Portland Maine, was raised with her family in Baldwinsville, N.Y., Mequon and Cedarburg. In her adult years, she resided independently in Port Washington, Grafton and Fredonia.
Laura graduated from Homestead High School in 1971. She went on to work with Portal Industries Inc., for many of her adult years, which helped provide her guidance and supportive employment within the community.
With the help of her family and Portal Industries Inc., she developed into a very strong, proud and independent young woman. She was recognized with a Personal Achievement Award from Portal in 2009. Over the years, she was gainfully employed at various businesses within the communities, but was most proud of her job that she held at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital.
Laura had a heart of gold, she laughed, loved life, she touched the lives of many and gave of herself generously. She always loved to help others and was passionate about her causes and a shining example of faith and trust in God. She took pride in sharing her creativity with others through her homemade cards, letters and beaded jewelry, which were shared with many little children in impoverished communities abroad.
Laura is survived by her brothers and sister: Christian Petersen (Lisa) Adam and Seth; John Petersen (Victoria) Ryan and Myles; and Julie Petersen Hinkens (David) Drew and Darren. She is further survived by her Uncle Richard Hippard.
Laura was preceded in death by her Mother, Joan (nee Hippard) Petersen; her Father, David W. Petersen; and her niece, Dani Marie Petersen.
