Laura graduated from Homestead High School in 1971. She went on to work with Portal Industries Inc., for many of her adult years, which helped provide her guidance and supportive employment within the community.

With the help of her family and Portal Industries Inc., she developed into a very strong, proud and independent young woman. She was recognized with a Personal Achievement Award from Portal in 2009. Over the years, she was gainfully employed at various businesses within the communities, but was most proud of her job that she held at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital.

She always loved to help others and was passionate about her causes and a shining example of faith and trust in God. She took pride in sharing her creativity with others through her homemade cards, letters and beaded jewelry, which were shared with many little children in impoverished communities abroad.
