Robert Kenneth Baggs passed away peacefully at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse, which was his home for the last two years. Robert was called home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 82 on May 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Iva; sister, Delores Troug; and stepfather Lloyd Schultz.
Robert was born June 26, 1934, in Milwaukee to Lester and Iva (Schaetz) Baggs. He grew up in Pewaukee and graduated from Pewaukee High School.
He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University. Robert was married to Ruth (Rauh), deceased.
Robert spent his career working as a capitalize production manager for Deltrol Controls in Milwaukee and Eaton Corporation in Milwaukee and Riverton, Wyo. Having hunted and fished in the Hatfield area for over 60 years, he decided to make his home there after his retirement in 1995.
Robert was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, hiking and the beauty of nature. For a number of years, he worked part-time for the DNR, manning the fire towers in the Jackson County area.
Robert is survived by his loving companion, Nancy Swan of La Crosse; his daughters, Susan M. Jarvela and Deborah A. Brown of Cedarburg and Julie R. Baggs of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren, David Jarvela, Valerie Rodriguez and Jason Brown; one great-grandson, Dylan Robinson; and brother, James (Mary Ann) Baggs of Neillsville. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation starting at 1 p.m. followed by memorial service starting at 3 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017, at Torgersonís Funeral Home in Black River Falls, 408 N. Water St., Black River Falls, WI 54615.
