Ken "Buck" C. Averill, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He was born Jan. 13, 1936, to William and Cecilia (nee May) Averill. He served in the Marine Corps from 1956-58. He worked at Amity and owned a tavern called Elbow Room from 1960-61. He worked for Capelle Bros and Dietrich as a laborer for 40 years. Buck enjoyed golfing and gambling.
Buck married Lynn (nee Scherr) on Oct. 22, 1960.
He was a member of Hon-E-Kor Country Club from 1964 until 2016 and was also a member of the American Legion Post 483 in Kewaskum. Buck loved woodworking and, above all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; son, Jesse (Missy); daughter, Jodi (Steve) Stray; grandchildren, Nick (Leah), Travis (fiancée Val Hedlund), Tyler and Erika Stray; sister, Ginny (Merle) Miller; brother, Paul Averill; sister-in-law, Carol Averill; sister-in-law, Annie Kreuser; brother-in-law, Marvin (Marlene) Scherr; and other relatives and many dear friends.
Buck is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Vincent Averill; brothers, Jerry (Val) and Ralph Averill; sister, Arlene (Leo) Hansen; siblings-in-law, Dick Kreuser, Mary Jane (Erhardt) Krueger, Billy (Janice) Scherr and Shirley Scherr; and mother-in-law Mary Scherr.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (331 Main St., Kewaskum, WI 53040) with the Rev. Ed Kornath presiding. The visitation will be held at church Monday, June 5, from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass at 6 p.m.
