Jerome J. Kenealy, 83 Jerome J. Kenealy, “Jerry,” 83, of Hartford, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton with his loving family by his side.

Jerry was born in the town of Erin to Alice Schmidt and was raised by his dear grandparents John and Etta Kenealy. He served in the United States Army as a ranger. He was united in marriage to Peggy Collins on Oct. 27, 1989. Jerry owned and operated his own painting service and also worked for Chrysler Outboard and Force Manufacturing for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed driving school bus for the town of Erin. He also enjoyed camping, fishing in the Mississippi River (his favorite spot), hunting, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, watching his son Kevin race cars, and reading the newspapers every day. In earlier years, he was very involved in baseball, from playing to coaching.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Peggy Kenealy; loving children, Debbie Bonney of Cudahy, Danny (Bev) Kenealy of Theresa, Kevin Kenealy of Iron River, and JJ Kenealy of Hartford; cherished grandchildren, Chris (Val), Andy (Kristie), Nicholas Bonney, Oscar Arroyo, Adam (Kristen), Aaron (Becca), Jamie Kenealy, Jasmine (Brian) Oswald and Britni (fiancé, Shawn Gavin) Kenealy; 19 cherished great-grandchildren; and his dear brother, John (Barbara) Schmidt of Lublin. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; mother; siblings, Rollie (MaryJane), Bobby McCrackin, and Mary (Marvin) Wittig; and his great-granddaughter, Molly Kenealy. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 Highway 175 Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Davies Edassery officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends Thursday at the church from 9:30-10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the town of Erin, with military honors.

Additional visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, at the Shimon Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.

The Kenealy Family would like to share their sincere gratitude with Dr. Kelly Darmody and her nurse Sarah, the doctors and nursing staff at the Hartford and Grafton ICU for the wonderful care Jerry received and compassion given to them, as well as the Rev. David LaPlante for visiting Jerry and praying for him.
