Mildred Eleanor Brown, 93

Mildred Eleanor Brown, age 93, nee Dickmann, of Grafton, passed away July 2, 2017, in Longwood, Fla. Affectionately known through her life as “Millie,” she was born in Grafton on March 30, 1924, to Nic and Catherine Dickmann. Millie graduated from Grafton High School, worked briefly for Grob Manufacturing before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and attended Hunter College in N.Y. as part of her basic training. She met her husband, Danny, while stationed in Dallas, and they were married on Oct. 17, 1945. After Millie and Danny were discharged, they relocated to Charleston, S.C., where she attended the College of Charleston for two years. Millie was fortunate to travel the world, living in Bermuda, Iceland and numerous visitations to Europe, following her husband during his career.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Nic and Catherine; husband Danny; sisters, Ardell, Lucille and Lorraine; and brother, Nick. She is survived by her three children, son Danny Jr. (Trish) of Palatka Fla., daughter Julie Kitchen (Larrie) of Apopka, Fla., and son Corey (Debbie) of Cumming, Ga.; sister, Martha Schanen of Grafton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Millie was extremely proud to have served her country in the US Navy during the Second World War and she excelled in her career as a mother and housewife.
