Lawrence Batzko, 90

Lawrence Batzko, 90 Lawrence Victor Batzko, resident of Cedar Springs Health & Rehab, formerly of Cedarburg, peacefully passed away on July 8, 2017, at the age of 90, with his daughter, Laurie, by his side.

Larry was a Loving Father to Steve (Carol) Batzko, Laurie (Ray) Schultz, David (Starla) Batzko and the late Mike (Kaye) Batzko. Grandfather to Erika (Chris) Kiehl, Jason (Rebecca) Batzko, Daniel Batzko, Megan (Brandon) Flunker, Danielle (Zach) Becker, Tyler Batzko, Joseph Schultz, Rachel Batzko, Joshua Batzko, Autumn Batzko and Alex Espurvoa. Larry was born Jan. 23, 1927, to the late Joseph Batzko and the late Magdalene (Chevenka) Batzko, He was brother of Maryann Zernecke, the late Delores (Jack) Cline, the late Gerald (Carol) Rheingans and the late Michael (Ruth Ann) Rheingans; Larry was also survived by eight great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

As a young man, Larry served as an Army paratrooper in World War II. After his military service, Larry attended the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music. His love of music was evident by his attendance to many of his grandchildren’s piano and violin performances. Larry owned his own dry cleaning business, a TV repair shop and then worked at Briggs and Stratton until he retired. Larry enjoyed gardening, fishing and the outdoors. During hunting season, he was the designated cook for deer camp. Prior to his nursing home stay, Larry was an active member with the American Legion. He participated in many community services, like fundraising for the Cedarburg Fire Department and Meals on Wheels.

The family would like to thank all those who visited and cared for Larry during his stay at Cedar Springs Health & Rehab. The kindness and love you showed toward him has our deepest gratitude.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held at the American Legion, W57 N481 Hilbert Ave., Cedarburg, WI on Aug. 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. Service to begin at 11:45 a.m.
