Melvin C. Lubbert, 90

Melvin C. Lubbert, 90, of Hartford, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Wellington Place in Hartford, surrounded by his loving family Diane (Tom) Clarenbach, Todd (Ann) Lubbert, and Kimberly (Doug) Littmann.
Melvin was born May 30, 1927, to Otto and Julia (nee Last) Lubbert in Colgate. He was united in marriage to Gerline Pfalz on Oct. 27, 1956, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.
Melvin served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church and a member of VFW post 8834 in Hartford. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, animals and being outdoors. He also enjoyed his service at the USPS before retiring and spending much of his time volunteering at the VFW post in Hartford. Melvin most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Melvin is also survived by his grandchildren, Jenna (Ryan) Krueger and Evan (Morgan) Clarenbach, and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by in-laws and other relatives and friends. Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Gerline; sons, Dennis and David; parents; granddaughter, Megan; brothers; and in-laws.
Funeral service for Melvin will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, WI) with the Rev. Jeremy Husby officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m.
Private interment will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
