Gerald “Jerry” R. Tenpenny of Cedarburg passed away at the Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at the age of 72. Jerry was born in Port Washington on Dec. 11, 1944, the son of Donald and Coletta (nee Mehring) Tenpenny. Survivors include his wife Barbara Tenpenny of Cedarburg, son Tracy (Clare) Tenpenny of Cedarburg, grandchildren Joseph and Lorraine, sister Jeannie (Terry) Bradley of Fresno, Calif., sister-in-law Carol (Dennis) Esselmann of Grafton, brother-in-law James (Connie) Koch of Missouri, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings James (the late Delores) Tenpenny of Port Washington and Lois (the late Donald) Rosewitz of Port Washington and brothers-in-law Daniel (the late Mary Ann) of Texas and Bobby Koch of Lake Church.
Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors at 11 a.m. on Thursday Oct. 12, 2017, at St. Francis Borgia Church-North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the Church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at a reception following the Mass at the Peter Wollner American Legion Post in Cedarburg.
Interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
After graduating from Port Washington High School, Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to civilian life, he was united in marriage to Barbara Koch on Oct. 22, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church and started working in the Shipping Department at Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington. Jerry was a member of the Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry’s name to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight or Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288 Auxiliary, appreciated.
