John Patrick Norton, 81

John Patrick Norton, 81, a 28-year resident of Eagle River and former resident of Florence, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at the Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.
John was born in Manitowoc on July 26, 1936, to Emmett and Ruth Norton. He married his wife, Janet Polenske, on Dec. 14, 1957, in Waukegan, Illinois. John owned and operated the Forest Motel in Florence, he had a coffee-vending service, was a master plumber, and was a partner/owner of Auto Buyer Magazine. John loved hunting and restoring/repairing cars. He also loved his dog, Max. John was a founding member and president of the Badger Model-A Club and a member of Duck’s Unlimited. He proudly served in the U.S. Army.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Norton; his parents, Emmett and Ruth Norton; and his brother: Emmett Norton. He is survived by his sons, John Paul Norton of Eagle River and Bob (Sandy) Norton of Iron Mountain, Michigan; daughters, Barbara (Douglas) Weber of Aurora and Janine (Ronald) Orzech of Three Lakes; sister, Honora (Mike) Elert Norton of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren, Jennifer, Douglas, Miranda and Robert; and great-grandchildren, Haylei and Cole.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes, with visitation held prior to the services at the church.
