Wayne E. “Cherv” Cherveny, 73, Slinger, formerly of Kewaunee, passed away unexpectedly July 4, 2017, at his home. He was born in Milwaukee on June 6, 1944, to the late Edward G. and Olive F. (Schleis) Cherveny.
Wayne was a graduate of Kewaunee High School class of 1962 and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He served our country in the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Evergaldes from 1964-66.
Wayne is survived by his cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna (Forst) Cherveny; maternal grandparents, Anton and Mary (Kalchik) Schleis; and other family members and his beloved feline companions.
Visitation will be at Buchanan Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, until the time of services. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. with Ken Kinstetter officiating. Internment of the urn will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Kewaunee following the service. Memorial expressions of sympathy may be made at the funeral home or direct donations to your local Humane Society in Wayne’s name.
