Rose E. Miller-Kuehl, 95
Dec. 26, 1921 — Oct. 22, 2017
Rose E. (nee Schmitt) Miller-Kuehl, 95, of Kewaskum. Our dear mother Rose was reunited with our dad Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017. Rose was the middle child of Joseph and Catherine (German) Schmitt, born Dec. 26, 1921, in St. Kilian.
Rose and Roman “Jimmy” Miller were united in marriage at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend on July 24, 1946. After Jim passed away July 13, 1964, Rose continued to run the business she and Jim established in Kewaskum — Jimmy Miller’s Tavern — and raised their five children, Robert, Michael, Catherine, Linda and Janet. On Aug. 14, 1971, she was married to Wesley Kuehl at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. She continued to run the tavern as Wes and Rosie’s Tavern. Wesley preceded Rose in death July 26, 2003.
Over the years, Rose made many great friends and memories with her tavern customers. After retirement, Rose and Wes moved to Shawano Lake. There she enjoyed three of her favorite pastimes: fishing, fishing and cards. Fond memories were made there with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Those Rose leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Robert (Anja) Miller of Colorado, Michael (Mary) Miller of Kewaskum, Catherine (Glen) Weinreich of Fillmore, Linda (Alan) Gundrum of St. Michaels and a son-in-law, Jon Wojciechowski. She was Grandma Rosie to 11 grandchildren, Elina Miller, Kevin (Hillary) Miller, Elissa and Shannon Miller, Brad (Deanna) Weinreich, Sara (Chris) Sabish, Michele (Rob) McGaffin, Tim (Megan) Gundrum, Bruce (Erin) Gundrum, Samantha (Evan) Filtz and Allison Wojciechowski; 12 great-grandchildren, Sarang Miller, Brandon Weinreich, Macy and Maddyn Sabish, Oliver Tessner, Evan and Connor McGaffin, Mason and Callen Gundrum, Madisyn and Tenley Gundrum and Lucas Filtz; a brother, Alfred (Rita) Schmitt of West Bend; four stepchildren; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Rose was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Wojciechowski; a grandson and four granddaughters; seven siblings, Roland (Alma), Ervin (Aggie), Herbert (Ruth), Peter (Danica), Paul (Burnette), Joseph Schmitt and Anna (Jerome) Hausmann; and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to invite you to help celebrate Rose’s life. Rose’s family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (331 Main St., Kewaskum) on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 3:306:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin Kornath officiating. Burial will take place the next day in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Threshold, KEYS, Holy Trinity School or the charity of your choice are appreciated.
A heartfelt thanks to Mom’s wonderful caregivers from Horizon Hospice and daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alan Gundrum.
The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Rose’s arrangements. Additional information and guestbook may be found at www.myrhum-patten.com.
We will miss Mom forever but know that we must show our greatest gratitude by letting go. As she would say, “She’s getting a good send-off !”
