Leo F. Duehning, 82, of Slinger, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, surrounded by his loving daughters at The Kathy Hospice.
Leo was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Slinger to Arthur and Anna (Stuettgen) Duehning. He worked at West Bend Co., Chrysler Outboard and at Briggs & Stratton. He was a member of the Local 232 Allied Industrial Workers Union, serving many years as a Union Steward until his retirement. After retirement, Leo enjoyed working part time at well-known area restaurant MJ Stevens. He also enjoyed gardening, watching Packers and Brewers games, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Leo is survived by his five daughters, Susan (Dan) Sperl of Medford, Barbara (Howard) Krohn of Iron Ridge, Pamela (Todd) Shaw of Hartford, Connie Wald of Waupun, and Brenda Fischer (fiancée Mark) of Waunakee; 23 grandchildren, John, Rob and Nicolas Sperl, Melissa (Sperl) Mueller, Jessica (Sperl) Ksionek, Howie, Tom and Cody Krohn, Brandi (Krohn) O’Gorman, Katie (Krohn) Krueger, Nathan and Adam Shaw, Stephanie (Shaw) Rief, Lindsay (Shaw) Hauser, Michael, Crystal (Wald) Sweet, Stacey and Kaytlin Wald, Tiffany and Timmy Loomans, and Savanah (Loomans) Mouw; and more than 40 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Carol Saegert and Annie Mergenthaler, both of Slinger, and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Art, William, Edward, Ralph, Harry, and John; sisters, Delores, Elsie, Marcella, Lorraine, and Emily; grandchildren, Danny and Danille Bechert; and son-in-law, John Bechert.
A funeral service for Leo will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Scott Moore of Wellspring Community Church of Hartford officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m.-noon.
