Eugene Jerome Verret of Roswell, Georgia, a longtime resident of Mequon, returned to our Lord Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, with his loving family and caregivers at his bedside.
Gene was born Sep. 19, 1926, in Jennings, La. In 1946, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and married his high school sweetheart, Emma Gauthier. Gene’s professional career spanned 47 years and five states in the oil, aerospace and industrial control industries. His efforts assisted in putting men on the moon. He was employed as a corporate safety official at Allen Bradley – Rockwell Corporation in Milwaukee for 21 years. He retired in 1993.
Gene’s Catholic faith was important to him. He was active at St. James Catholic Church in Mequon as a lector, a catechist and other roles. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years in 2003, Emma Gauthier Verret, with whom they had 11 children. He was pre-deceased also by their daughter, Gloria Verret.
He is survived by daughters, Ann (John) Enright of Grafton, Wis., Elaine Verret, Claire VanGaasbeck, Yvonne (Tim) Saul, Joan Verret, and Carol (Jeff) Bykowski of Jackson, Wis.; sons, Bob (Anne Tolocko of Mequon) Verret, Greg (Jo Ellen) Verret, Tom (Donna) Verret and John (Richelle Vodegel of Mequon) Verret; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
