Donald Edward Stachura, 85 went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice. He was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Mosinee to parents Stanley and Lucia (Hilber) Stachura. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Donald was united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1955, to Patricia Jackson.
He worked as a machine repairman at Chrylser, retiring after 42 years of service.
Donald liked to listen to country western music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid card player. Donald will be remembered for his sense of humor and cherished his time with his entire family.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Pat; six children, Duane (Rise), Kathryn (Gary) Condon, Donna (Steve) Rahlf, Mary (Dale) Scherr, Dennis (Renee) and Peter (Erin); grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew (Beth) and Lucas, Anna and Ashley Condon, Alison and Amy Rahlf, Bobbi and Michael Scherr, Brandon and Christopher, and William and Maxfield; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Nolan, Izabelle, Maddison, Abigail, Amelia, Samuel, Login, Jacob and Jace; sisters, Gertrude Gerrow, Lorraine (Armin) Boehm and Evelyn (Elmo) Romans; and sister-in-law, Carol Stachura. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donald is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bernice (Henry) Sadowski, Cecilia (Charles) O’Neil and Marion (Lewis) Johnson; and brothers, Howard, Ray, Charles (Shirley) and Jim.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Kilian Catholic Church (264 W. State St., Hartford) with the Rev. David LaPlante presiding. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church from 3-5:45 p.m. Committal to be at St. Kilian Cemetery on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 2:30 p.m.
