Claire O’Konski Ciha, 89

Claire O’Konski Ciha, beloved wife of Aloysius G. Ciha, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at the age of 89. Claire was born in Kewaunee to the late Stella Ratajczak and Thomas O’Konski on March 29, 1928. Claire spent her formative years in Kewaunee, where she graduated from Kewaunee High School. Claire received her Bachelor of Science degree in home economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was subsequently employed as an agricultural journalist by the University of Illinois. On Feb. 11, 1950, Claire married Al Ciha, beginning a love-filled marriage and a remarkable romance that would last for 67 years. Claire and Al made their home in southeastern Wisconsin, where they happily raised seven children. Claire was the director of buildings and grounds for Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend for many years before retiring in 1995.

Claire is survived by her husband, Al; her children, Fran, Patrick, James, Michael and Philip; her grandchildren, Genny, Julia, Jack, Abby, Ben, Meron, Merhawi, Mary, Jennifer, Thomas, Lauren and Owen; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Claire was predeceased by her daughters, Kate and Mary.

A Mass will be held for Claire at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 105 Church St., Theresa, WI.
