Elizabeth M. “Betty” Reuwsaat (nee Krause), of Hartford, formerly of West Bend, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 81. She was born Sept. 17, 1937, in Tripp, South Dakota, to the late Harry and Margaret (nee Reuland) Krause.
On Aug. 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Wilbert “Wimpy” Reuwsaat at Holy Angels Church. The couple settled in West Bend, where she made their home.
She enjoyed spending time working in her garden, baking and being with family. She also liked taking day trips with friends.
Above all else, she cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and loved playing with her great-grandson.
Survivors include two children, Jeffrey of Theresa and Dena (Edwin Horsch) of Slinger; two granddaughters, Tanya and Shannon (fiancé Jared Lisko); great-grandson, David Brian; four sisters, Phyllis (Dewayne) Stiefvater of West Bend, Marcella (Eugene) Newman of Hartford, Carol (Mark) Schlenvogt of Fredonia and Mary Jo (Dwayne) Strege of West Bend; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on March 14, 1994, and two sisters, Dorothy (Norman) Otte and Bonnie Fick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be Saturday in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 3 p.m. until 4:45 p.m.
Betty’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital ICU and M-ICU and also at The Kathy Hospice for their compassionate care.
