Cordell C. Hoffins, 79 |
Feb. 12, 1939 -- Jan. 20, 2019
Cordell Carl Hoffins, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at his home in Mequon, Wis., bathed in bright sunlight and surrounded by his family. From his birth in Sheboygan, Wis., on Feb. 12, 1939, to his passing on Sunday, he was a man of accomplishment in science, business and personal pursuits, but none more than the family he built and the incredible lives he facilitated for everyone around him.
Cordell was devotedly and lovingly married to Darline (Schuette) on Oct., 2, 1965, and remained so for 53 years until his passing.
Cordell was the proud and loving father to two sons: Steven (Ilka) Hoffins of Pewaukee, Wis., and Ryan (Lisa Dietrich) Hoffins of Germantown, Wis. Additionally he was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren (Evan, Emily, Lindsay and Caitlyn.) He was born an only child to Lionel Hoffins and Mary (Buikus) Hoffins of Sheboygan, Wis., and attended Holy Cross Grade School and Sheboygan North High School, where he demonstrated an early aptitude for anything in the sciences or mathematics.
He acquired his (HAM) radio operator license as a young boy and used this skill and enjoyed this hobby throughout his life.
Cordell studied electrical engineering at Marquette University, earning his BS degree in Electrical Engineering and his Master of Electrical Engineering, specializing in electromagnetics. He was employed by AC Electronics, where he worked as a Senior Project Manager on the Apollo/Saturn Moon projects, the Boeing 747 navigation systems, the F111 Avionics System and the Titan 3 Minute Man Missile programs.
He worked for 19 years in Advanced Electronics Research at Allen Bradley/Rockwell Corporation as a senior project manager and was the director of Reliability and Quality Control at both Marquette Electronics and Smith & Nephew in the development of cardiology and medical equipment. Cordell was both a registered professional engineer and a registered real estate broker in the state of Wisconsin.
He had a passion to see the world. His travels included many vacations throughout the country and internationally. Cordell also loved being at his lake home, where he enjoyed excursions in his boat and slow canoe trips along the shore of Lake Michigan.
He was a wonderful host to the many guests who joined them at the lake.
During summer and fall months, he also managed to include long leisurely drives through the state in his shiny red Corvette.
Cordell will always be remembered as a brilliant, adventurous, giving and loving person by everyone he touched and he will be missed by his family and friends.
