Paul D. Sauer

Paul D. Sauer, 71, passed away Feb. 20, 2019, at his home in Ellenton,
Fla. He was born in West Bend on March 21, 1947, to the late Silverius
and Ethel “Jean” (Collins) Sauer. He grew up in Allenton and graduated
from Slinger High School. He married Cindy Potter of Allenton on October
1, 1966, at St. Anthony Catholic Church; they were married 34 years
until her death in 2000. Paul was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 19
and served in the Vietnam War for 18 months.
Paul remarried on Nov. 18, 2002, to Karen Schoepke. He worked at Amon &
Sons paving company until he retired and moved to Florida. Survivors
include his wife, Karen; his three daughters, Jill (Larry) Berry of
Watertown, Candace Threadgill of Allen, Texas, and Tiffany (James) Dean
of Eagle; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three
stepchildren, Annie (Dave) Maradiago of Verona, Dave Schoepke of Merrill
and Sarah Williams of Fort Atkinson; 14 step-grandchildren and two
step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Julia Leader of Neosho, Evelyn
(Richard) Fritche of Hartford, and Lucille (David) Degner of West Bend;
and sister- in- law, Kathleen (Sauer) Schelling of New Braunfels, Texas;
mother-in-law (Cindy’s mother), Delores Brost of Allenton; and
brothers-in-law Tom (Bonnie) Brost of Superior and Jerry (Chris) Brost
of Arbor Vitae and sister-in-law Joy (Ed) Lachendro of Beaver Dam . He
is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a brother,
Robert Sauer; and a brother-in-law, Timothy Leader.
A private family service is being planned. Final resting place will be
at the Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors. Memorials in
Paul’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
Wounded Warriors or The Salvation Army.
