Donald E. Hidde, 82

Donald E. Hidde, age 82, a longtime resident of Mequon, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, surrounded by family.

He was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 1, 1936, the first son of the late Earl Valentine Hidde and Clara Pierce Hidde. He grew up in Wauwatosa, attending Tosa East High School. He matriculated to University of Wisconsin-Madison and received his B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1959. On Feb. 12, 1960, he married Annette Elizabeth Whitney and they raised a family of three children. He retired from the Oster Mfg. Co. as Vice President of Manufacturing with 28 years of service.

He was an avid reader who enjoyed spending his time with his wife traveling to Europe and driving his convertibles wherever life took them. He loved being in the great outdoors, whether it was sailing or fishing in northern Wisconsin to Gulf Shores, Ala., and byroads in between.

He is survived by Annette, his loving wife of 59 years; his brother Dale Kenneth Hidde of Wauwatosa; his three children, Jeffrey Scott Hidde (Markley) of Easley, S.C., Kathryn Ann Schaefer (Thomas) and Lynn Elizabeth Bruner (Robert) of Mequon; and seven grandchildren, Miles Alexander Schaefer (Amelia) of Thiensville, Jeffrey Schuyler Hidde of Lexington, S.C., Sydney Ann Rafter (Colin) of Culver City, Calif., Jake Theo Bruner and Michael Anthony Bruner of Mequon, and Matthew Journey Hidde and Benjamin Aaron Hidde of Easley, S.C.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
