October 13, 2016

WAUKESHA - ”Made By Hand: Functional and Decorative Crafts” is the fall exhibit at the Almont Gallery, 342 W. Main St.

Featuring artists Laura Fesser, Lynn Gaffey, Steve Mizener and Mary Smith, it runs from Oct. 1 to Nov. 14.

Fesser’s canvases, ornaments and boxes are decorated with jewel like leaves, flowers and branches from polymer clay.

Gaffey’s fused glass bracelets, pendants and earrings glow with varying iridescent colors. She also makes functional pieces such as salt and pepper shakers, glassware and vases.

Mizener’s work ranges from whimsical ceramic vases, cups and serving plates to large-scale portraits and busts, all from clay. He reworks and polishes salvaged Mississippi driftwood to create cocktail tables and sculptures.

Smith’s baskets are functional and decorative, ranging from serving pieces to catch-all boxes. The pieces fit in dŽcors from modern to rustic.
