MILWAUKEE - Charles Dickensí ďA Christmas CarolĒ is a tale of hope and the Milwaukee Repertory Theaterís production gave hope to families and youths.

A Rep tradition for more than 40 years, this year the play raised a record $111,628 through A Christmas Carol Families Program. The new production benefitted the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, one of The Repís new Pillar Partners.

The record amount is due in large part to an anonymous donor who was so moved by the end-of-show appeal that he pledged to match all gifts given dollar for dollar up to $50,000. Through the generosity of ďA Christmas CarolĒ audiences, The Rep raised $61,628.

The Rep has raised nearly $40,000 annually for groups like Big Brothers Big Sisters, La Causa, Journey House, Sojourner Family Peace Center and the Next Door Foundation.
