Gov. Scott Walker in West Bend

Using a judge’s bench in the former Washington County Courthouse as a backdrop, Gov. Scott Walker signed two bills Wednesday that affect how alcohol-related offenders are treated in the criminal justice system.

Flanked by local dignitaries and law enforcement officials, Walker codified into law Acts 388 and 389. Act 388 provides an additional $2 million each fiscal year until 2017 for a grant program administered by the Department of Justice to counties offering alternatives to prosecution and incarceration for those charged with a crime.
