WAUKESHA — On Saturday, Blessings in a Backpack of Waukesha County came together with community volunteers to fill 3,000 backpacks with nutritious supplemental food for students in the area.
On the last day of school, Waukesha County students in need will receive the extra backpack full of snacks to take home. The event was sponsored by real estate and investment management services company JLL and took place outside the company’s offices at 20800 Swenson Drive.
According to the organization, it is estimated that more than 15,000 Waukesha children under the age of 17 struggle with hunger over the weekends. In 2012, the Waukesha County Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack was formed to combat this issue.
